Helping keep Christmas COVID-Safe with Variable Message Signs

With Christmas right around the corner, Local Authorities are left with a big responsibility in helping to keep order and safety in communities, with the festive holiday presenting a vast risk in the spread of the virus.

As we emerge from another UK lockdown, our Portable Variable Message Signs (VMS) have been heavily relied upon by Local Authorities to help with the spread of information and the right message. Indeed, we have not only seen a huge increase in deployments for COVID applications, but the media too have also identified the power our signs can have, resulting in their use for photos in international news media ranging from the BBC to CNN.

The reason for this is clear; our signs are an effective and useful way to help get messages across, even in photographs, as the media can attest to. Available in 3 different sizes depending on requirements and with the largest fleet of portable VMS in the UK, MVIS can supply units for a wide range of applications within a COVID-19 setting, especially in areas that are likely to be busy during the Christmas period.

These applications include-

  • Communicating Tier specific rules
  • Blocking streets off
  • Staggering footfall
  • Traffic management
  • Pedestrian marshalling
  • Social distancing safety notices
  • Building opening & closing announcements
  • Queueing systems

Our signs are solar powered too, making them environmentally friendly. Requiring no fixed power source, our portable VMS can be deployed in highly targeted locations in your area, allowing Local Authorities the opportunity to concentrate resources in high risk areas to help combat the further spread of the virus.

What’s more is that all messages are programmed remotely without the need to attend site, using a mobile device or web browser which can be done by yourselves or our team. Once updated, our units display changes within seconds, and even the scope of what sort of message that can be displayed is incredibly vast, being ideal for text or pictograms, with multiple colour options available to help with emphasis and impact.

covid-19 do not mix with other households

MVIS have an incredible service record when it comes to delivering solutions for major highways projects, high profile events and for Local Authority traffic management applications, not to mention the COVID deployments we have seen this year. As a result, we have built on a range of experiences and skills that makes us perfectly equipped with the right training and credentials to deliver a premium level service to all of our customers, no matter how big or small the project, which is especially important when it comes to the safety for our team and the general public.

This experience, gained over more than 8 years of service in the industry, has allowed us to develop a keen ability to understand the needs of our customers, boasting a reputation for ‘platinum level service’ that we always look to improve with customer feedback and an extremely high priority on training, safety and compliance.

With our strategically located depots, we can deploy our signs at short notice, and we support our customers with a 24/7 support line. Our installation teams work alone, they do not come in to contact with members of the public and risk assessments are completed to ensure their full safety and social distancing.

ITS Technology for Distribution Centres

This year has brought challenges for shoppers and retailers alike, with the heavy focus on online shopping and panic buying in 2020, distribution centres across the UK are busier than ever.

On top of this increased workload, distribution centres, like the rest of the world are also having to work under COVID-19 conditions, that brings with it issues such as social distancing, mandatory PPE and increased infection control measures unlike anything we have seen in our lifetimes.

Distribution centres are not only charged with the duty of getting our online orders to us and stock deliveries to retail stores, but they have to do so safely for the best interests of their employees and the general public. Due to the nature of a distribution centre’s activity, infection control is an important aspect of their business, as drivers are transporting goods, often all over the country. This raises a big question into responsibility for the safety of incoming drivers and outgoing drivers, as well as for any retail staff and end users handling or unpackaging the products being delivered.

Along with several industries, distribution and logistics companies from all over the UK have turned to MVIS this year to help them with this new responsibility. Using our portable, solar powered Variable Message Signs, distribution centres can take responsible steps when it comes to informing visitors and employees about the COVID-19 measures that the business has in place.

Our signs are proven traffic management solutions, allowing for the communication of often vital safety information to drivers. This can be especially effective for distribution centres, who deal with a stream of incoming and outgoing traffic. Whilst for traffic management applications, this information is often in relation to road works or delays, for distribution centres, this information under the current circumstances is taking the form of COVID-19 information and guidelines for entering the building grounds.

One example of a successful application of our portable VMS is at the Amazon distribution centre in Doncaster. This distribution centre required one of our VMS-C units to help manage incoming driver’s conduct as they arrive onsite to best ensure the safety of their staff.

Not only was this sign used to help enforce social distancing, but Amazon also identified the unique capability of our portable VMS to display multiple messages that can be changed quickly and easily using web browser or our mobile app. As result, Amazon were able to display other safety messages as well as COVID-19 related messages to offer a well-rounded solution that offer exactly what they needed for their traffic management.

A reason to celebrate: The East Midlands Chamber of Commerce Awards

More than 120 organisations from across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire have been recognised in the 2020 edition of the annual Chamber of Commerce awards, and Matlock based MVIS and Bartco UK are both nominated amongst the category nominee lists.

In a year of grey clouds, the company is proud to announce a silver lining of multiple nominations in the prestigious regional award ceremony.

New categories have been added in 2020 – including the Environmental Impact Award, as sustainability becomes more and more prevalent across business practice around the globe. MVIS & Bartco UK has been nominated for 3 separate awards, including this new category – as their own commitment to reducing carbon footprint goes on and is now recognised.

The awards MVIS & Bartco UK are up for include:

Environmental Impact Award

For many years MVIS & Bartco UK has been thinking sustainably.

The companies have been reducing their carbon footprint via product development powered by solar sources, utilising a delivery model that deploys multiple units per journey, installing bee houses at HQ, continued home working for employees, costlier waste management systems – the list goes on. And that list makes it very easy to see why this category has MVIS on it’s nominees list.

Commitment to People Development

MVIS and Bartco UK prides itself on culture, and their employees adopt the company principles every day.

An area that MVIS & Bartco UK has absolutely excelled for some time now. This nomination is a testament to the hire and develop culture that is rife within the company’s fibre. With almost 40% having joined the company as apprentices, and over 50% having been with the company for over 4 years.

Leadership takes an active interest in keeping the workforce challenged and consistently upskilled, with Commercial and Operations Director Anne Ashman telling us:

“I am very much about constantly evaluating a person’s skills, seeing how they develop and grow, and as a result – if they then need a new challenge.”

The companies have a rich history when it comes to their people at the awards, with previous success being tasted in the apprenticeship category for the development of Tillie Wooliscroft from the marketing team.

Innovation in Manufacturing

Another area of pedigree comes in the form of innovation, with a previous victory being achieved in this category.

Never relenting on exploring new products, methods and systems, MVIS & Bartco UK finds itself back amongst the nominated in 2020.

Product development and Covid-19 adaptation have been at the forefront of innovation in 2020, and Bartco UK is looking to add a second innovation award to its list of achievements.

The winners…

Winners of the awards will be chosen during a virtual judging day by a panel including sponsors, a Chamber board member and a member of the Chamber’s senior leadership team. They will then be announced across three award ceremonies to be held in November and December.

Scott Knowles, Chief Executive of East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire), said:

“Our Business Awards are always a great opportunity to showcase enterprise success in the region, but perhaps this year will be even more special during what has been a hugely difficult time for many businesses.

“It was great to see that Covid-19 hasn’t stifled innovation, resilience, and a determination to grow and succeed among the region’s business community, with a very high number of applicants.”

Commercial and Operations Director for MVIS & Bartco UK Anne Ashman told us:

“Award nominations are always proud moments and the awards are usually a fantastic night where regional success is celebrated by us all. Whilst the physical award ceremony is off the table this year, we are still delighted to be nominated for what is ultimately the root of the awards night – excellence and best practice.

“Any victories we are fortunate to receive would be just reward for our entire team, who, to an individual have been nothing short of fantastic in this challenging year. Adaptable, versatile, resilient and dedicated sums each and every one of our workforce up, and we’d be delighted to chalk a victory or two up to our excellent people.

“Congratulations to everybody nominated and whilst we won’t see you on the night, we look forward to when we can celebrate again together as a region.”

Variable Message Signs offer COVID Solutions to Retail

As we make our way through yet another COVID-19 lockdown in England, we are finding an increase in applications for our technology across many new industries. One of these industries is retail, who’s task of keeping the nation fed is proving more and more difficult with social distancing and lockdown conditions imposed.

As a result, stores around the country are adapting, installing measures to help enforce social distancing as well as for a range of other requirements. Needs related to increased demand with Click and Collect, new queuing systems and even communicating specific information such as ‘card payments only’ have become a huge priority for these businesses.

Possibly the biggest issue logistically that retail stores currently have is in relation to queue management. It is a well-known occurrence that increased queue time can also increase frustration and anxiety in customers, which is not ideal customer psychology, especially when shoppers are already anxious and nervous.

Providing waiting customers with estimated queue wait times has already been proven successful in traffic management applications and the events industry, however it’s not usually an issue faced by the retail industry. With this in mind, our new Queue Management Solution offers the retail industry a solid solution under COVID-19 conditions using our range of VMS.

The Queue Management Solution uses our dual-colour HD Compact VMS (variable message sign) to communicate queue wait times to waiting customers in conjunction with our solar powered VMS-A to communicate information to drivers. The HD Compact’s portability and small footprint makes it an ideal queue management solution, especially in areas where space is limited. When placed strategically along the side of the queue, stores can keep customers informed and manage their expectations to help minimise frustration before customers enter the premises.

Queue management can also be achieved using the VMS-A in areas with more space. Whilst the HD Compact’s selling point is its small size, the VMS-A allows for more complex messages and may also reach a larger number of customers due to its size, making it ideal for car parks and larger stores. Such messages may encompass new store opening times, the store’s social distancing policy or other important information.

The use of the VMS-A in this solution can also help to keep customers informed every step of the way with their visit, being able to be used for a wide range of aspects such as traffic control and pedestrian marshalling.

One of the most innovative uses however has been found in the support of increased demand of Click and Collect, which, in the absence of any customer information, can descend into chaos easily. Using our web-based platform, site managers can update the sign’s message within seconds to call forward the next customer when their order is ready.

Whilst we learn to deal with COVID-19 both as an economy and as a society, more technological solutions will be employed to help us deal with the hostile circumstances we find ourselves in. This solution, and those we have developed alongside it, represents a step change in how we continue to use our technology to keep Britain informed during a time when information is of critical importance.

Looking after mental well-being during the 2nd Lockdown

At the start of November 2020, England entered into its 2nd national lockdown this year in response to COVID-19. Presenting issues for workplaces all over the country, one of the big issues for employers is keeping morale up at a very difficult time for everyone.

MVIS and Bartco UK continue to prioritise our team’s mental health through the implementation of a number of initiatives that we have continued to adhere to throughout the pandemic, meaning that when the 2nd lockdown was called, we were ready with our existing initiatives and lockdown procedures.

Since ‘working from home’ was mandated earlier in the year, the office staff at MVIS and Bartco UK have all had a daily morning briefing over Teams, discussing the day’s goals and allowing us to remain responsive to the situation as it changes – an important strategy under the current circumstances where the news is changing rapidly.

One of the lockdown procedures we have in place is our employee ‘COVID-19 care packages’, delivered right to staff member’s doors. Packages contain soap, tea bags, hand sanitizer, tissues and even a few goodies in there to help keep spirits up.

care packs

With Christmas right around the corner we are also well under way planning a virtual Christmas party for us that promises to be a fantastic festive break from all the doom and gloom that 2020 has brought.

We continue to prioritise our staff’s well-being throughout this time and will be monitoring things closely over the next lockdown with continual feedback and improvement regarding our policies.

One of the aspects we are currently examining is our approach to working times, in the hope that we can allow members of the team to enjoy more time outside during the day in winter, promoting the natural production of Vitamin D, which is widely reported to serve as a vital ingredient in our body’s response to the virus.

We will remain flexible in our approach to work in general throughout this, staying in touch and responsive to the situation so we don’t let our team down at this most critical time.

MVIS takes the road to Highways UK 2020

It’s been a difficult year for everyone in 2020 and trade shows have unquestionably been hit worse than most, forcing them all to either postpone their plans or rethink their operations.

Indeed this is the difficult decision the organisers at Highways UK had to make this year, with COVID-19 driving people apart, stuck in their homes with the idea of trade show events pre-COVID as a fond, distant memory of simpler times.

This year, Highways UK will be conducted online – a virtual trade show that brings many of the networking benefits of a trade show to a digital environment.

As we approach the event, taking place from 2 – 6 November, we eagerly anticipate the exciting new format that the organisers have put together. Comprising of virtual ‘stands’ and a busy timetable of event sessions that feature a very wide range of guest speakers and sponsors, it promises to be an interesting opportunity for all involved.

The friendly team at MVIS will be on stand-by, ready to discuss any enquiries visitors may have about our products. Highways UK this year comes hot on the heels of some big developments from MVIS, including our IVD Data Collection Radar with AGD, the publication of our Major Project Timeline and our new Portable Solar Powered Invictus CCTV.

Highways UK offers us a unique opportunity to promote these offerings and our core product range to over 3000 people who have registered to take part, along with the full library of our solution and specification sheets, ready for download.

We are very much looking forward to the virtual event, during a year that has been absent of the usual business, social and networking opportunities that as an economy we depend on.

Anne Ashman, Commercial and Operations Director for MVIS comments “We have been waiting for a virtual trade show for a very long time. With all these digital tools available to us, it was only a matter of time before trade events went online in some capacity. It’s certainly a much more environmentally friendly way forward.”

Anne continues, “However tragic the circumstances of this development, it’s important that we all make the most of the opportunity and participate with our full support, for the good of the industry.”

Our team will be ready and waiting for existing and prospective clients to field any questions throughout the event on our virtual stand

But don’t forget, before you can access this, you need to sign up for the event on Terrapin.

Once registered for your guest pass, you can find the full event on Swapcard.

MVIS Launches New COVID Solutions

As the situation with COVID-19 intensifies, the UK government have moved to a strategy of sectioning off areas into Tiers, 1,2 and 3, each one used to denote a more severe level of threat from infection from the virus in that given area. Countries within the UK are also going down a different route, with Wales and Scotland deviating from the English Tier system with their own approaches to the situation that best suits their country.

In response to this, MVIS have developed new packages that aim to assist Local Authorities and the devolved countries with the uphill struggle they face in helping to get some control of the situation.

The first is our COVID-19 ITS Support Packages. Developed to help councils across the UK communicate and manage their COVID-19 Tier status to residents and visitors.

Comprised of a combination of portable ITS technology applied at different Tier levels, these packages are being offered to assist local authorities who are undoubtedly struggling, as we all are, with the uphill battle against the virus.

COVID-19 ITS Support Packages

We are also offering our VMS as solutions for Gateway Tier Status management between local authorities, as well as management of traffic between the national borders of England, Scotland and Wales, as each devolved nation enters into its own approach to deal with COVID-19.

COVID-19 Tier Gateway Management Solutions

COVID-19 National Border Management Solutions

These solutions are effective answers to many  safety problems that are currently an issue right now. As the UK government takes an increasingly localised approach to combatting the virus, localised information strategically deployed in key hot spots can be an effective way to communicate vital and specific advice to residents and visitors about the area’s COVID-19 status or policy, ideal for councils hoping to use one of the best tools we have against the virus at the moment – information. This is especially important as we head towards Christmas, a time where many people traditionally travel and shop, presenting a major issue to

MVIS and Bartco UK Launch Portable IVD Radar with AGD

We are well known for our business partnerships and product developments.

Having worked with a range of companies to develop new and effective solutions that can bring the industry increased safety, we know what it means to cooperate for mutual benefit.

Our Solar Intelligent Platform (Solar IP) is one of the key components to this reputation. The Solar IP is a trailer based solar platform that serves as a portable ‘power bank’ for various technologies. These highly versatile units have been used with great success to grant portability to technologies that were previously required to be a fixed install due to their power requirements.

Amongst the latest of these developments is the ground-breaking portable IVD radar, which uses our Solar IP integrated with the low power 343 Traffic Control Radar from UK based radar specialists, AGD.

The IVD Radar is a portable traffic flow monitoring solution, providing traffic data on single and multi-lane highways and roads. The radar employs proven enforcement-grade measurement techniques to track & measure speed, length, lane/direction of individual targets.

Ideal for traffic profiling applications, clients can gather detailed data in all weather conditions in order to provide traffic information such as flow, speed and driver behaviour.

Replacing the need for other radar mounting options, the use of the Solar IP grants AGD’s 343 portability to drastically enhance road safety, capability and efficiency.

This unit makes collecting traffic data easy at a time when it has never been more critical. With remotely downloadable data from a unit that can detect from 2-100m away, no one is required on site to collect the data, which is especially important in COVID conditions.

Matt Felce, Research and Development Manager at Bartco UK comments “It’s always amazing finding new ways that our Solar IP can bring the industry new solutions. Working with AGD and their excellent 343 radar has been a genuine pleasure. We look forward to seeing the benefits this new solution brings the industry.”

Product Spotlight: Portable Solar Powered Invictus CCTV

MVIS / Bartco UK are known for engaging in partnerships that benefit not just those involved, but the wider industry too. One of our latest partnerships with 360 Vision is an excellent example, one that sees the integration of 360 Vision’s Invictus CCTV with our Solar IP, giving rise to a whole new groundbreaking solution.

This new product boasts an incredibly clear picture and performs excellently in low light conditions. 360 Vision have delivered a camera that is low in power demands but still offers an HD image, allowing the Research & Development Team at Bartco UK to work on integrating a power source in the form of our Solar IP.

The Invictus HD camera itself offers a fully ruggedized housing, with exceptional build quality. The toughened optical glass window features a wiper and its Pan & Tilt gearbox is ultra-reliable and resilient. The defining feature, however, could be argued to be its integrated high-performance IR lights with intelligent control, which enables its powerful performance in low light conditions.

As a result of the low power demands of this unit, it is able to perform to extended run times, filling a strong market requirement for a CCTV product that is also portable, solar powered and has a much clearer image than seen in previous solutions on the market.

It also allows for an effective integration with our Solar IP, which is a trailer-based solar power source that can provide appropriate technologies the opportunity of portability.

The applications of this are far reaching, offering sectors such as traffic management and events a solution that can meet such specific but common requirements. What’s more is that under the conditions seen due to COVID-19, this unit fulfils an even bigger market need in name of high definition surveillance for safety.

For more information about this unit, please contact us via our contact form.

Anne Ashman celebrates 9 Years with Us

Despite the chaos of this year with COVID-19 dominating news and business news, we have a lot to celebrate this year, with a number of significant changes to our workforce that demonstrates anything other than slowing down, unlike the rest of the economy.

Between new employees starting with us and new promotions, 2020 has presented major changes to our organisation. However, it’s not just the changes that we can celebrate – we can also celebrate aspects of continuity, with staff retention being a high priority for us in our business model.

Last week, we celebrated a huge milestone for the company – Anne Ashman, MVIS and Bartco UK’s Commercial and Operations Director has been with the company for 9 years!

Anne joined the organisation back in 2011 and has been with us through all the changes we have seen happen over the years, from the company name change from Colour Mobile VMS to MVIS and incorporation of Bartco UK and Bartco AU into the group, right through to leading the team through the global coronavirus pandemic.

Starting at the group as Office Manager, Anne has progressed first to Office and Finance Manager, then to General Manager, and now, in 2020, she has been promoted to UK Group Commercial and Operations Director.

On top of this, Anne has also been personally nominated and submitted as a finalist for 2 awards this year, both relating to her leadership and management over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anne’s quick thinking and problem-solving skills equips her with the ability to generate new ideas to help solve problems. Along with her organisation skills, Anne is adept in applying the best solution for any problem that utilises every aspect of the MVIS and Bartco UK machine to it’s maximum potential.

Serving as a major implementer for both MVIS and Bartco UK’s success from the start, Anne has been leading her teams for the last 8 years, writing and implementing all the policies and processes that the UK work to and ensuring that all customers get the best service possible.

Anne was also the driving force behind the UK group achieving certification for an integrated ISO management system whilst recruiting and training the majority of staff, who are widely considered to be amongst the best trained in the industry.

Never wanting to stagnate, Anne places a huge emphasis on training and development, not just of her team but also of herself. Having gained her Open University Business Management Degree last year, her HR qualification in 2018, ITOPS in 2019, even completing a Directors Development program during the lockdown, to name but a few, Anne brings her skills and training to an industrial scale, ensuring all staff can benefit from her training and their own training so our organisation is always moving forward and is best equipped to grow in an ever changing market place.

Pat Musgrave, Managing Director of MVIS and Bartco UK, comments “We are very pleased to be celebrating Anne’s employment of 9 years with us. Over this time, I have come to learn that her tenacity is only overshadowed by her record of success. Her years of service have been essential for the group’s growth. We thank Anne for her service and everyone at MVIS and Bartco UK are looking forward to many more years of growth under Anne’s direction.”

MVIS VMS makes Impact for COVID-19 Safety

During these highly unusual times, everyone looks to government bodies for advice on what to do and to help keep people safe.

Spreading the right message has never been more important and with the high focus on local initiatives to help combat this virus, local authorities are left holding the responsibility of implementing the right solutions to help keep their area’s COVID levels as low as possible. The tasks of those areas currently facing local lockdown restrictions such as Bolton and the North East of England (to name but a few) is even bigger, as they are also charged with the responsibility of communicating their specific area’s lockdown rules rather than just guidance.

Nothing has had a bigger impact in any sense this year than COVID-19, and with any high impact problem, you need a high impact solution to help manage it. Local authorities all over the UK have been turning to MVIS and our Portable Variable Message Signs (VMS) for help.

Not only this, but the media has also seen an opportunity for the potential of our VMS to put across a stark and important message through their photography, with a few deployments in particular receiving national media attention to help promote their news.

At least until such times as we have a vaccine widely available, one of the most powerful tools we have against this virus is information, bringing our portable VMS to forefront of the effort for the media and local authorities. VMS are often used in Hollywood and TV in disaster situations for this exact application – and with the world heading deeper into a state of emergency, we are seeing this become a reality before us.

With the ability to change messages remotely via web browser or mobile app, our signs can be updated safely without requiring anyone on-site. They can also be updated quickly and easily, allowing local authorities to be responsive to the changing guidance.

Our sign’s portability and solar power credentials make their responsiveness even more important, offering a moveable solution that gives the option of being able to relocate signs to new hot spots without having to worry about a fixed power supply.

One of the other aspects of our signs is their colour options. With the opportunity to display messages in multiple colours, local authorities and site managers are able to avoid the risk of ‘sign blindness’ that can occur with the use of the common amber message text sometimes seen on signs deployed for roadworks.

please ensure social distancing

Putting messages and backgrounds in different colours can help the text make extra impact as well as provide emphasis, increasing the chances it will be seen and most importantly read.

The use of colour can also be a powerful indicator to the public to convey and reinforce different types of messages, such as red for unsafe actions and green for safe actions, or a combination of colours to catch attention and try to influence certain types of behaviour, for example.

covid-19 do not mix with other households

As well as the opportunity to use different colours, our signs are also ideally used to display pictograms, which for foot traffic in urban areas can be highly effective for conveying critical messages.

hand face space

Another important factor that has allowed MVIS to step up to this challenge has been our fleet size and product range. With the largest fleet of VMS in the UK, MVIS are able to meet the demand that is currently coming our way, with not only the necessary numbers needed, but also being able to offer 3 different sizes of VMS to local authorities so they can use the appropriate sized sign for the specific audience, deployment and objective.

Whilst MVIS can deliver these helpful solutions, we specifically do so with premium level service, bringing our high-speed expertise and focus on compliance to local authorities, who may not be used to the same level of ‘all encompassing’ service that we provide. It is well known within the industry that working with MVIS takes concerns away from our clients, as we often go above and beyond in our service, offering 24/7 support, consultancy on deployment and ensuring the right unit is being used for the right job.

Join many local authorities in the UK and hire with MVIS today to be confident that your area’s COVID-19 information is being communicated by quality products in the care of experts.

MVIS takes on exciting new sales appointment

With all the doom and gloom in the world at the moment, it’s a pleasure – and indeed a privilege – to be able to focus on whatever positive news we can. In this sense, it seems only fitting that we celebrate an important new appointment to the MVIS team, with Ed Faulkner joining us as Sales Manager, working under our Sales Director, Graeme Lee

Ed’s appointment is especially exciting for us, as not only does it expand our growing team, but it also demonstrates a marked milestone of expansion for us. Ed’s role will comprise of breaching new markets with our products, which is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic as we begin to see more applications for our technology to help deal with the spread of the virus.

Ed’s role will also focus on bringing new trade into the business in familiar areas to us, such as in traffic management, with local authorities and the events sectors. With a background in technical sales, mainly construction and the hire industry, Ed is keen to apply this knowledge and secure new business for the company. Ed very much fits in with the MVIS ethos – with a focus on training and added value, he brings a focus on personal development that ensures he will grow as the company does.

Ed brings with him years of business development and technical sales management experience, making him the ideal candidate for the job set out before him. With a proven track record in sales, Ed was selected to take on this role against a plethora of highly skilled and highly appropriate candidates. After an incredibly difficult recruitment process, Ed was chosen as the best applicant for the role with all our criteria considered.

Out of work, Ed is a passionate hockey player, playing for the same club since he was only 10 years old. Now the captain of the masters team, they reached the UK masters final at the Olympic hockey park in 2019 and came in close second. Ed also plays for the Welsh masters team as well.

Anne Ashman, Commercial and Operations Director comments, ‘The level of applicants for this role made this an incredibly difficult recruitment process that we were very lucky to take part in. Even more lucky for us, Ed was a candidate that stood above the others in the criteria we were looking for.’

Anne adds, ‘We are very pleased to welcome Ed to the team. Our recruitment process necessitates a focus not only on skills, but also attitude and culture. We believe that Ed will fit in with the MVIS and Bartco UK way of thinking. We look forward to working with him and seeing what we can all achieve together.’
