MVIS Supports Treecycle for the Sixth Year Running
MVIS is proud to have supported Treecycle for the sixth consecutive year, continuing our long-standing partnership with Ashgate Hospice and our commitment to giving back to the local community while supporting sustainability.
Treecycle is an annual initiative organised by Ashgate Hospice that helps raise vital funds for hospice care while providing residents with a simple and environmentally responsible way to dispose of their real Christmas trees after the festive season. For a donation, an Ashgate Hospice team member collects the tree directly from outside the customer’s home, removing the hassle of disposal while supporting a vital local charity.
Making Christmas Tree Recycling Simple and Sustainable
Returning to work after a well-deserved Christmas break can be busy enough without worrying about how to dispose of a Christmas tree. Treecycle offers a convenient solution. Customers simply book a collection, leave their tree outside their property, and volunteers take care of the rest.
Once collected, the trees are transported to a local woodyard where they are responsibly processed. Rather than ending up in landfill, the trees are chipped and converted into biofuel, giving them a second life as a renewable energy source.

MVIS Treecycle 2026 in Numbers
This year marked MVIS’ sixth year taking part in Treecycle, with our team once again getting hands on to support the initiative. 2026 also saw the first Treecycle for Workshop Technician Rob Hinchley, who was joined by Marketing Executive and Treecycle veteran Ben Ashman.
Over two days on the 7th and 8th of January, the pair focused their efforts on Matlock and surrounding areas. Across the two days they travelled a total of 114 miles and collected 32 Christmas trees from local homes and businesses. All trees were delivered to the woodyard in Barlow, where they will be chipped and transformed into biofuel.
The Environmental Impact of Treecycle
Recycling Christmas trees through Treecycle delivers clear environmental benefits. During their growth, Christmas trees absorb carbon dioxide through photosynthesis, helping to improve air quality. However, when trees are discarded in landfill and left to decompose, they release carbon dioxide and small amounts of methane. Methane is a greenhouse gas significantly more potent than carbon dioxide.
By diverting Christmas trees away from landfill and converting them into biomass fuel, Treecycle prevents these emissions from being released into the atmosphere. The resulting biofuel provides a renewable energy source that helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels, supports the circular economy and lowers overall carbon impact.
For MVIS, Treecycle perfectly aligns with our values of sustainability, community support and responsible environmental action.

Continuing Our Support for Ashgate Hospice
Supporting Ashgate Hospice remains a key focus for MVIS. Like many charities, Ashgate continues to face challenges due to limited NHS funding, making community fundraising more important than ever.
Alongside Treecycle, MVIS continues to support a range of Ashgate initiatives including the Sparkle Walk, the Superhero Walk and our annual MVIS Bake Off. We also recently supported an MVIS team member who completed a charity skydive at Skydive Hibaldstow to raise funds for the hospice.
What’s Next for MVIS and Ashgate
Looking ahead, MVIS is excited to be planning the MVIS x Ashgate Charity Auction, taking place on the 26th of February. The event will feature a range of products and services up for auction, offering attendees the opportunity to bid on high value items while supporting a fantastic cause.
We encourage everyone to save the date and join us in continuing to support Ashgate Hospice and the incredible work they do for our community.
