MVIS Improves Site Safety for DSF Refractories with Vehicle Activated Speed Sign

MVIS recently had the opportunity to support DSF Refractories with the installation of one of our Vehicle Activated Speed Signs (VASS) and VMS-A. The project was initiated by Russ Ferns, the companies Compliance Manager, who was looking for a reliable solution to address speeding issues and improve traffic safety on-site.

DSF Refractories was experiencing significant challenges with traffic control. A public right of way cutting through the yard posed ongoing safety risks, particularly with vehicles speeding and large trucks merging onto narrow access lanes. Limited space on-site meant that traditional traffic management options weren’t viable, prompting Russ to explore alternative solutions. A quick online search led him to MVIS and our VASS & VMS technology.

After discussing the specific needs of the site, MVIS deployed a VASS unit equipped with ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) technology, along with a VMS-A for site specific messaging. The results were immediate and positive. According to site users, traffic is now more controlled, and safety has significantly improved. As one team member noted, “The situation is now much improved.”
