Bakewell Christmas Market

With Christmas right around the corner, Gall Events required a solution that would inform road users that there may be delays due to excess traffic in the area of Bakewell for the Bakewell Christmas Market 2019. Without this information, road users may drive into traffic and delays without knowing that the Market was taking place, creating frustration and general confusion on the road for those caught up in it, not giving them a chance to take alternative routes to avoid to delays.

Keeping road users informed during these events is highly important to avoid disruption, especially on busy or main roads that can face congestion easily with heavy traffic.

Working closely with our team, the organisers of the Bakewell Christmas Market, Gall Events, looked to MVIS to deploy 3 x VMS-A’s surrounding the areas that were expected to face issues, allowing us to display a message that would communicate this information to those driving into the affected locations. Ray Haywood, Chairperson of Gall Events commented, “Dom of MVIS assisted with the appropriate wording of the Matrix signs and at my request, changed them by remote control.”

The signs that were deployed by our Delivery & Maintenance Operative, Jon, were positioned in locations that allowed road users enough time to make decisions in taking alternative routes, maximising the chance of efficient, safe and happy road use during the weekend of this event.

Ray added that he would “most definitely use MVIS again”, and that “MVIS went over and above what was required”, being left happy that the service he received from MVIS was “exceptional”.

Jon, our employee in the field who deployed these units mentioned, “Whilst we place units up and down the country, we especially love working on projects that are local to us. Few things are more rewarding than seeing signs we have deployed only a few hours ago already informing and helping road users continue their journey safely.”

Hiring a VMS from MVIS can help road users in many ways; use them on their own as stand-alone temporary VMS or use them in conjunction with our radar to display a speed reactive message. VMS are great for road safety, data collection and speed awareness.
